Nick Belderbos joined an architectural firm in Liverpool after earning his Chartered Architect degree from Liverpool University in 2001. He initially worked on Church and School projects before advancing to designing large mixed-use developments in the city centre. These included Hotels, apartments, care facilities for the elderly, PCTs, and retail spaces.
Nick has served as the lead consultant and architect on a variety of projects ranging in cost from £16,000 to £28M. Nick has successfully consulted with and negotiated with English Heritage, Historic Churches Committees, Building Control Officers, Conservation Officers, Local Authority Planning departments, on behalf of Clients.
Nick founded architects-direct.com in 2001, initially to manage smaller works and domestic projects. architects-direct.com has successfully worked on projects in this sector ranging in value from £16,000 to £600,000.
After the 2010 recession, Nick left the Liverpool practise to focus solely on architects-direct.com. Nick made sure that architects-direct.com has the resources to work within all sectors of the construction industry by drawing on the broad range of project experience he gained while working in Liverpool. Nick is involved in all projects at every stage, from feasibility to completing the on-site work.
Nick is an active member of the community and writes a regular column for the Heswall Magazine where he provides guidance on a variety of construction-related issues. Nick was the driving force behind the formation of the new ‘Planning Forum’ bringing together local architect’s, agents and the Local Authority Planning Department to work closely together to improve the Planning process for all parties.
